Most of our fences go from phone call to finished in about three weeks. Here is every step.
Lines marked
We call 811 so gas, water and fiber lines get flagged before a single hole is dug. It's free and it keeps everyone safe.
HOA and permits
We send your HOA the drawing, materials and stain color, and pull a city permit when your fence needs one.
04Build day 1Posts in concrete
Steel posts every 8 feet, set 2 feet deep in concrete and checked against a laser line so the run stays dead straight.
Rails and boards
Rails, pickets, cap and trim go up. Every board is hand-picked and every screw is coated, so nothing streaks or rusts.
Gates and walkthrough
Gates get steel frames and adjustable hinges. We walk the line with you, swing every gate, and hand you the promise in writing.

Most gates start dragging within two summers. Ours get a welded steel frame, adjustable hinges and a latch set with a level. If one sags or stops latching in the first 10 years, we fix it free. In writing.

Cost
How much does a new fence cost in Austin?
A 6 ft cedar privacy fence usually runs about $32 to $48 per foot installed, so a typical 150 ft backyard lands around $5,000 to $7,500 before gates. Draw your own yard in the planner above for a closer number.
Do you charge for estimates?
No. The measure, the drawn plan and the written price are all free, and there's no deposit to get a quote.
Can I split the cost with my neighbor?
Yes. On a shared lot line we can write one quote with two invoices, split however you and your neighbor agree.
HOA and permits
Do I need a permit for my fence?
Many Austin-area fences don't, but the rules change by city, HOA and lot type, especially on corner lots and near drainage easements. We check your address and handle any permit that's needed.
Will you deal with my HOA?
Yes. We send the drawing, material list and stain color in the format most HOAs ask for, and we wait for approval before we build.
Where exactly does the fence go?
On your side of the line, using your survey or plat. If there's any doubt about where the line is, we'll recommend a survey before we dig.
Materials
Cedar or treated pine?
Cedar. It resists rot and bugs and doesn't twist the way pine does in Texas heat. We pair it with galvanized steel posts that won't rot in the ground.
Should I stain my new fence?
Yes, once the wood dries out for about 6 to 8 weeks. A good semi-transparent stain every 3 years keeps cedar from turning gray.
Is vinyl worth it?
Vinyl costs more up front but never needs stain. Cedar costs less and looks warmer. In Texas sun we steer people to heavier vinyl with UV protection.
Timeline
How soon can you start?
Measures happen within 2 business days. Installs are usually booked 2 to 3 weeks out.
How long does the install take?
Most backyard fences take 2 to 3 days. Posts go in on day one and the concrete cures overnight before rails and boards go up.
Do I need to be home?
Only for the start and the final walkthrough. Just keep pets inside and leave the side gates unlocked.
